Plugs and Connectors
- TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, OR DEATH, UNPLUG CORD OR TURN OFF POWER at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring!
- To be installed and/or used in accordance with appropriate electrical codes and regulations.
Heavy Duty Grounding Plug – Cat. No. 515PR, Heavy Duty Grounding Cord Outlet – Cat. No. 515CR, Grounding Plug – Cat. No. 515PV, Grounding Cord Outlet Cat. No. 515CV – Rated: 15A-125V
Use with Vacuum Cleaner Cord, Jr. Hard Service Cord; AWG 18/3C to AWG 12/3C 0.240" to 0.655" dia. (6.1 to 16.6)mm max. STRANDED COPPER WIRE ONLY!
To Wire:
WARNING: TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, OR DEATH, unplug cord or turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring!
- Loosen assembly screws in face and separate device. If needed, back out cord clamp screws enough to allow cord to fit between the two clamp halves. Insert cord through cord clamp and housing.
- Strip cord jacket between 7/8" (22.2mm) and 1" (25.4mm) from cord's end. Remove insulation exposing between 3/8" (9.5mm) and 1/2" (12.7mm) bare copper wire (see diagram). Twist wire strands tightly together. Trim off cord fillers, if any.
- Insert bare copper wire into wire clamp and tighten each terminal screw 10-12 in-lbs. torque. Ensure insulation clears clamp; HOT conductor to BRASS terminal, NEUTRAL conductor to SILVER terminal and GROUND conductor to GREEN hex screw.
- Assemble wired device body with housing. Align keyed housing with key on device's body. Tighten assembly screws.
- Alternately tighten cord clamp screws 10-12 in-lbs. torque. Ensure cord clamp rests over cord jacket, not over conductors.
